Lymphedema

A healthy lymphatic system helps eliminate wastes and toxins from your body and nourishes your cells with proteins and fats. It also helps fight infection by transporting white blood cells (particularly lymphocytes). White blood cells attack bacteria in the blood. However, if your lymphatic system is damaged by surgery, illness or other issues, your lymphatic system can become clogged and cause fluids to build up in your lymph system and lymph nodes – a condition that is known as lymphedema.

It is our mission to ease the suffering of so many that develop lymphedema during their lives before further complications lead to life-threatening diseases. With so many people in the Houston, Texas area alone suffering from lymphedema, we are constantly treating those who are affected by this painful and debilitating condition. With proper attention, these difficult symptoms can easily be managed and decreased over time. It takes commitment on the part of the patient to work with us through the rehabilitation process and continue the necessary treatments at home as well.

If you notice persistent swelling in either or both legs, arms, torso, neck, head, or groin that makes your limbs feel heavy, constricted, painful, we urge you to make an appointment as soon as possible to be diagnosed properly. Lymphedema Therapy Specialists can help you to determine if you are indeed suffering from lymphedema at our initial consultation. If you have already been diagnosed, and you see a dramatic increase in the size of the involved limb, we would like to begin the evaluation and treatment program to get you back on the road to wellness.
